Popular British television period drama Downton Abbey has taken the world by storm since first hitting UK television screens in late September 2010, with the US following a few months later in early January 2011.
This critically acclaimed, multi award winning drama with its captivating storyline and stellar cast that includes Hugh Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith and Elizabeth McGovern, is one of the most watched television series of all time. Now being televised in over 100 countries, Downton Abbey’s much anticipated fourth UK season is scheduled to run from September 2013, while US viewers will have to wait until January 2014.

Set in the two years leading up to the First World War, Season 1′s storyline is centered around the Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, the seat of the Earl and Countess of Grantham, and its inhabitants, the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.
With a backdrop of some of history’s major events of the time including the sinking of the RMS Titanic and the declaration of World War 1, the focus for this series is primarily on who will inherit the estate from patriarch Robert Crawley, the 5th Earl of Grantham, and his eldest daughter Mary’s search for a suitable husband.
